Welcome! The Van Orden Research Group is an interdisciplinary group within the Department of Chemistry at Colorado State University.
Primarily, our research utilizes quantitative single-molecule methods such as fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) and super-resolution single-molecule localization microscopy (SMLM) for a variety of applications. These single-molecule techniques are increasingly useful for examining the molecular-level properties of biological, environmental, inorganic, and nanomaterial systems that are otherwise obscured in ensemble measurements. Ongoing projects in our lab are focused on advancing both fundamental and applied aspects of these techniques, including instrument and method development, in addition to studies upon metal nanoclusters, DNA, and quantum dots.
